An SSG test assesses the fallopian tubes from the uterine cavity. Ensures the fallopian tubes are healthy for IUI treatment. The SSG test is performed after the end of menstruation or the cessation of blood flow. However, for women with irregular cycles, the test should be done at any time. The SSG test is non-invasive and therefore very popular in IVF centers.
The SSG test procedure mainly involves injecting a saline solution into the uterine cavity. Injection of SSG causes the cavity to widen, making it easier to detect the blockage. The movement of the liquid also aids the detection process. Before injecting saline, the SSG procedure involves inserting a speculum into the vagina. This allows a clear view of the cervix. The cervix is then cleaned with an antiseptic solution and then a thin tube is inserted into the vagina under ultrasound guidance. At this point, the saline solution is injected slowly and gradually into the lining of the uterus. The SSG tube test is performed in the test lab with the patient asked to lie on the table with their knees bent and their legs apart.
